- Cybersecurity Awareness
In today’s increasingly digital world, staying vigilant and informed is more important than ever when it comes to cybersecurity. At Kirkwood Bank & Trust, protecting your information and maintaining your trust is our highest priority, which is why we’ve implemented safeguards and ensure our team is continuously trained to prevent cyber threats. As financial institutions are prime targets for cyberattacks, it’s vital to regularly evaluate your security habits, keep systems updated, and stay educated on how to spot and respond to threats.
Here are some practical ways you can protect yourself from cyber threats:
Keep your computers and mobile devices up to date
Having the latest security software, web browser, and operating system are the best defenses against viruses, malware, and other online threats.
Use strong passwords
A strong password is at least eight characters in length and includes a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Watch out for phishing scams
Phishing scams use fraudulent emails and websites to trick users into disclosing private account or login information. If you are unfamiliar with a source, do not click on links or open any attachments or pop-up screens.
Protect your personal information
Lock down your privacy settings and avoid posting things like birthdays, addresses, mother’s maiden name, etc. Be wary of requests to connect with people you do not know. When shopping online, especially on unfamiliar websites, refrain from giving them any personal information (read their privacy policy too).
Only use secure internet connections
Always protect your home wireless network with a password. When connecting to public Wi-Fi networks, be cautious about what information you are sending over it.
